September Show: Mix and Match

Digital Travel Journal - Each image is a memory!
Painting is just another way of keeping a diary. Pablo Picasso

Red Sky- Digital Print

Watching- Digital Print
Hot Peppers- Digital Print
Emptied- Digital Print

Southern Evening- Digital Print

About the Works:
I use a digital camera for quick sketching then I re-work the images in the computer. I like seeing these images from different locations together. My primary aesthetic concerns are color and light. ellouise schoettler

Red Sky -
I love the California Central Coast. This photo was taken near Morro Rock at Moro Bay, CA. where these three threatening towers dominate the skyline.

Ghosts Watching: I cannot resist comfortable rocking chairs. This photo was taken on the front porch of a Cracker Barrel somewhere between North Carolina and Maryland.

Red Peppers: In Jonesborough, TN someone has created a backyard gallery by hanging a collection of found objects on a weathered wooden fence. I liked the contrast of dried red peppers tacked to a wooden window frame which has textured plastic panes.

Emptied: This is one of a collection of birdhouses from that same wall in Jonesborough, TN.

Southern Evening: On an early evening in Jonesborough this swing reminded me of North Carolina Fall evenings when I was growing up.

These prints are $50.00 each (unframed). If you would like to purchase one leave a message in the comments and I will contact you.

Dipping Into the Past

Pear Over Water

Layers 2

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way -- things I had no words for.” Georgia O'Keeffe

As I move into my new studio I have been looking through piles of old work.
Collages I have made over the last 25 years ago.
The works remind me who I was at different times. How I felt. What I was thinking about. They are more than an album; they are snapshots of my "self".
There are surprises in those memories and in the art itself.

REFLECTION on a California Waterscape

May 2005
Huntington Harbor, CA

Early in the morning,
Water is a looking glass
Reflecting it all.
A plane overhead
Is the only movement.

On the way to Marco Polo?

I started photographing reflections in the 1970s. Why select this one?
Lately I have been yearning to be in Venice. This is the closest I have been able to swing this summer. California is wonderful - but no substitute for Venezia.
